I have thought of something else, mainly about Sonic Next Gen. Since they are three timelines, there would be seven emeralds in each, and a total of twenty-one. (though I'm sure no one kept track to make sure each had seven after all that time suffling. Can anyone say 8th emerald in Sonic fighters?) Shadow had been in all three timelines, meaning he could access all of them. Think of Shadums having the power of TWENTY-ONE emerald at his disposal.

Well, considering that time paradoxs' happen when two of the same objects collide with each other from different times spans, the universe would probably be sucked into an infinite Chaos Control Time Paradox thingy. Kinda like when Chuck said what would happen if Sonic and Friends didn't return to there home planet. @ Chanterla and Red; Well, I was thinking about that, and it has come to my conclusion that there was simply a false (fake) atmosphere surrounding the ARK. I mean, if Eggman could make a replasment for the Sun, I dought his Grand Father couldn't make a fake atmosphere.

^ That would work. I think it's just an extension of the Ark originally used to get to different areas (so it would've been covered by glass or something similar to keep the oxygen in). But when the Ark was invade, GUN expanded and built upon them (destroying the glass), probably to prevent intruders.
But, Sonic and the others are capable of surviving in space. Even in the second game Sonic was able to freefall from the Death Egg in space and land safely on the Tornado. Didn't Sonic Riders mention something about them being descentants of aliens or something, or was that just the Babylon? Cos that would basically explain the majority of the characters resistance to the laws of space XD
As for Chaos Control - Shadow can warp time. He can slow it down (so he moves faster) or stop it all together. Because he's the ultimate lifeform and was using a genuine Chaos Emerald, these abilities won't change. However - Sonic can distort space if he tries to use the technique. He was also using the fake Chaos Emerald at the time, so that might have influenced the energy Sonic could use.
So, by combining Shadow's power over time and Sonic's power over space, the pair were able to move the Ark back and prevent any damage to Earth or space station.

True but do not forget about the ability to travel through time when at least two emeralds are present (in sonic next gen). Depending on the number of emeralds and amount of concentration used the Chaos Control's abilties and strength could be altered and enhanced. So if all 7 Chaos Emeralds are present it might even be posibble to travel through dimensions. this is just a theory so don't get upset.
@_@ my brain hurts now.

If I recall, Maria went outside the Ark with Shadow in one of the flashbacks in his game -- the one where he has to blast all the artificial Chaos. Also, Eggman trotted about outside in the Eggwalker during SA2. More then likely, there is an invisible atmospheres around certain sections of the ARK.
Sonic Next gen does open up a hell of a lot of plot holes. With Chaos Control. I mean, it's always involved manipulating space and time, but only in small increments -- hence the warping effect. In Next Gen, however, Shadow is able to travel hundreds of years into the past and future with a couple of emeralds. It begs the Question -- Why not go back in time and save Maria/Gerald/the Ark?

He has amnesia, remember? And Dusk Fox, the "Glass" thing does sound reasonable, but I was hoping you'd find out about the "False Gravity" part. I mean, there isn't a veil of glass around the Earth, is there?

True Quacker. That is a good question o.o I've always thought that if you gave Shadow a Time Stone he might be able to travel a little bit back into the past (not that far though, only like...a week?), especially since that's the main power they have. To be honest I think SonicTeam largely just twist Chaos Control into whatever they need at the time.
And also true TailsDollFan.
But everywhere in the ARK had gravity, and gravity, as we all know, is influenced by magnetic forces within a planet. I imagine everywhere that counted as the ARK, such as the outside walkways, had electronic components and powerful magnets within the pathways the induced gravity upon objects, equal to that of Earths. In the last Shadow V Sonic battle, you can see how thick the pathways are (at least over a foot) and the strange lights and such in them, which suggest that they're more technical then simple bridges.
Afterall, in Final Chase there were cylinders that altered the gravity force upon Shadow, allowing him to run vertically up them. These were probably prototypes, as the power seems to be too strong and inflicts a rotatary motion too.

I remember it took me near an hour to figure out how to work those rotating gravity pillars...

Great point about Final Chase Zone. They do seem like prototypes. Same with the Controls in that Sonic Stage (not Final Rush) where Sonic can alter gravity to other walls and run up them.
It all actually bears resemblance to Death Egg Zone from Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I assume the Death Egg was based on the Ark in some fashion. (Hmmm... Thinks of new thread...)
Yeah, I assume Shadow could do neat tricks with a Time Stone. I get the feeling the Time Stones only work on the Little Planet, though. That's probably why Eggman stayed on it, and forced it to remain over Never Lake. I mean, if he could just take the Time Stones and run, he could have done a hell of a lot more damage to the world.
