I'm at Chapter 8 right now, and Sonic has always been on my team. You can change the other three but, there are specific things you have to keep track of. 1) The team attack options. Sonic loses all but two of his POW moves if Tails, Knuckles, or Amy aren't on the team for example. 2) You have to look at the character overworld ability as well. Some characters have the same one repeated, but they end up being stronger than others (ie Amy's Smash is stronger than Knuckles', and Tails' Flight is stronger than Rouge and Cream). Amy will be the only character with the Smash option for about 37% of the beginning of the game, so it's a good idea to keep her around.
Also, you can reply to any character anyway you want if the option is available, which is nearly all the time. So Dexter can end up being real, depending on how you choose the options. Not to mention characters that aren't on your team still travel with you; they just don't get to fight because you didn't select them to be on your party.

Ah, it makes sense that Sonic would be the unmovable team member. How is Amy stronger then Knuckles?? Eh, whatever *shrugs*
Still seems like a good game. I'll put on the list of "What to Buy Me for Christmas/My Birthday" list ^_^

Hehe, multiple storyline possibilities...so it's got replayability.
That's so totally something I did not expect in a Bioware RPG
...
That was sarcasm by the way.

*Closing eyes to avoid spoilers*
I'm at "Black hole sun" right now. I love the game, it's great. I think Penguin (as usual) nailed most of the review points. (Though, I'd argue that Secret Rings had some great music at times.)
Graphics: Great. I think the 3D modles do an amazing job of capturing the characters on the DS, and are animated very well. The Water color look is a bit out of place in the Sonic world, but works well enough. I HATE the comic book cutscenes though. They look REALLY flat compared to all the other art, the they choose strange sequences to do in this style. whenever something should be grand or epic, the use this oddly flat and uninspired way of presenting them.
2) Sound. Weak. Nice use of Sonic Sound effects, but they often are miss-matched. (Amy's Low blow attack sound like Sonic's "breathing" sound FX underwater). Battle music and the main theme are great, but everything is instantly forgettable.
3) Gameplay. What Penguin said. I personally don't like that reaction commands are essentially pass/fail. It's too black and white. I prefer a Paper Mario setup where your attacks do weak damage, if failed. ESPECIALLY since early on, every failed move eats up MOST of your PP.
4) Story/Dialogue: Fantastic. Conversations are the best part of the game. They capture every character's personality well, and everything they say exudes charm. Read some of Penguin's quotes to see what I mean. Big is hilarious. I was also completely caught off-guard by the first plot twist. (Though I blame miss-leading production art of that)

I dare to disagree as well, RP, and my counterpoint is all based on this. You need more Unawakening Float; you need more Unawakening Float now. Also...Just how are the team attacks, anyway? That's one of the things I'm most interested about, even if it's just because it gives me the chance to watch Big and Shadow launch a synchronized maneuver of time-bending, pond fishing death... (It does do that, right? Please don't let all I know to be a lie!)

I love the game, it's great. I think Penguin (as usual) nailed most of the review points. (Though, I'd argue that Secret Rings had some great music at times.) I haven't played the game myself, so I wouldn't know. XD It was more of a word of mouth because almost everybody that comments on Secret Ring's music say that it really wasn't that great. I'll look into it them later, though because I'm curious about the soundtrack. And Weirdo, I wasn't counting theme songs, so you're going to have to try again. =P Now onto other random jarbble of the spoilerish sort. Did anybody find it awesome how Eggman addresses himself as Robotnik a few times? =P I'm sure the fanboys will be quite pleased. Remember how I said that the Dark Legion form the comics resemble the Dark Brotherhood? Aside from their name (though that technically counts too XD ) ...we have a teenage soldier whose technologically-advanced people once warred with Knuckles' ancestors, wear black uniforms, are considered "Dark" and use robotic soldiers, and whom were banished to an eerie space-like Twilight dimension in which time moves more slowly than in the real world. This soldier, while initially somewhat cold and straightforward, isn't without kindness and after a confrontation with Knuckles is unmasked and revealed to be a violet-eyed echidna female, and then goes on to side with Knuckles and his friends to oppose her former compatriots and their power-hungry leader... ...and that accurately describes both Shade and Julie-Su. Can you say copyright? >.> Now onto battles. This is possible the most broken tactic I found thus far in the game. Team: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Chao: one regenerating PP on all team members, one regenerating PP on Tails, one that gives you extra items in battle, one whatever/Cheese/one that finds rare chao easily. Specs: Let Sonic hold the item Economizer (makes POW moves cost one less PP), one character the Angle Amulet ( has a "... "% chance to revive a fainted comrade), and one character the Refresher (regenerates one PP to equipped character). Pick a large, tough opponent. Let Sonic Defend (if low on PP; you must have it maxed or very highly filled) Use Scan Use Adrenaline Rush on Sonic Use Blow Kiss on Sonic Use Hail Strom on next round Watch tough enemies die in one hit. This tactic is great on bosses and tank opponents that have a lot of HP and/or armor. The rest of the moves is up to you. Having Axe Kick only cost 3 POW points and letting Sonic move 4 times on the next round will decimate the rest of the enemies. Also...Just how are the team attacks, anyway? That's one of the things I'm most interested about, even if it's just because it gives me the chance to watch Big and Shadow launch a synchronized maneuver of time-bending, pond fishing death... (It does do that, right? Please don't let all I know to be a lie!) Eh, you're gonna be dissapointed as Team Attacks are predetermined in the game, you can't make them. So far off the top of my head there are: -Sonic's Moves- Sonic+Tails Sonic+Amy Sonic+Tails+Knuckles Sonic+Tails+Knuckles+Amy -Tails'- None -Knuckles'- Knuckles+Sonic Knuckles+Shadow Knuckles+Shadow+Shade -Amy's- Amy+Cream Amy+Cream+Big -Cream's- None -Shadow's- Shadow+Sonic Shadow+Omega Shadow+Rouge+Omega -Rouge's- Rouge+Knuckles -Omega's- Omega+Big -Eggman's- Eggman+Tails -Big's- None -Shade's- Shade+Sonic Shade+Knuckles I'll go into the battle system and other stuff later. Too tired right now.

And Weirdo, I wasn't counting theme songs, so you're going to have to try again. =P Theme songs? That's level music for the final world...>.> (Also, BOOO! No Big/Shadow team attacks? I am highly disappointed at such fail on that category.)

Hi, Quacker! Ya remember me? It's been forever. College, college, more college... that's all I can say. On the good news, I can play Brawl in my college's library. Great stress reliever. I now own with Wolf O'Donnell! He's too cool.
I've heard about Dark Brotherhood. Not sure I wanna get it. Personally, I think Sonic Team is running out of ideas.

Oh, Bioware made it? Then I'm definitely turned off. When someone makes a walkthrough for it on YT, I look at it then. Until then, my interest is in Spyro: The Eternal Night and Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Must have them... need Wii first! Gah!!
Also Weirdo, Unawakening Float... AWESOME!! *throws king-sized brownie at you*

Oh c'mon! Bioware makes sure that everything they deliver is a bowtie wrapped bundle of awesome. It's not like it's uber complicated like KotOR, anyway...(Though I wish it was, I'd kill for all that statistical related sidequest mumbo jumbo...that's my favorite part of games like those, just screwing around and ignoring the main quest with an endless array of sidequests.)
