So, you have any characters your really good with in Sonic Riders? (Original, please xD) Because i've recently gotten hooked on the game again, and started panning out who i'm best with. As my Fly side: Tails+Yellow Tail (But i'm also pretty good with Wave and Type-J) As my Speedz: Shadow with Darkness (I'm good with Advantage-S, too) As my Powah (Until further notice): E-1000000G (Erm, the power robot XD) So, who do you totally 'rip the race' with? (ATTN WEIRDO: One of the most unlikely games has made my Dad appreciate Video-games a little more. Sonic Riders because he said it had 'originality' xD)

I need to get the first Riders game D= But for Zero Gravity...
---
Sonic: Used in storymode (of course). Also sometimes in races.
Tails: Used in storymode (duh). I sometimes use him in races (when the language is set in Japanese - his english VA is too painful) and for testing new flying gears.
Knuckles: Used in storymode (another duh). Also when I'm going with a power character in a race.
Jet: Used in storymode (*gets gun pointed at her*). Sometimes used when I fancy using someone different.
Wave: Only in storymode. I don't use her otherwise...but I like her personality ^^'''
Storm: Only in storymode.
Amy: Storymode (*SHOT*). Sometimes in a race but is more often used by my friend then me.
Blaze: A pretty all-round speedster. She's also useful for testing new gear so I usually mix it up but I stick with speed gears for her.
Cream: I only use her because she's really cute...o-o But she's a surprisingly strudy character! I try to give her some strong gear through, otherwise she just gets knocked aside.
Silver: Slightly slow on his Psychic Wave (or any non-speed gears). Used to test out courses to find grind/air/power locations and learn the track.
Shadow: Used when I want some real speed in a race, nearly always with a speed gear. I sometimes use the Angel*Devil with him because it kinda suits him XD
Rouge: One of the stronger fly types. I mostly use her just for her opening line/animation (seriously. I just sat there laughing when she first did it!)
Anyone else I've forgotten I don't use or haven't unlocked.

Well, you didn't really need to name who you only use in Story Mode, but whatever xD My brother's just for kicks. Speedz: Jet on 'Access' or something like that (The one that allows all characters to utilize fly) (But he fails most epicly with Jet, and he's waiting to unlock a new charrie to play with) Power: Storm on 'Access' Not that bad, actually. Fly: Cream on 'Beginner/Smile' His best character. He uses 'Beginner' on tracks that he has difficulty on, and 'Smile' on everything else.

AiAi is possibly the best character in the game. All of the SEGA character's stats beat out most of the character's default board and seems a little broken. Other than that, all of the other characters only seem to be cosmetic rather than actually show any kind of boastful abilities ('sides Super Sonic who is ironically the worst character in the game), so it doesn't matter who you choose. =/ But what really does matter is the board you choose, and the High Booster paired with AiAi will make you win like there is no tomorrow; that is if you know how to use the High Booster.
Power character's shortcuts are the best in nearly all of the courses, so if you are playing to win, I suggest to choose one of them. Most of the Power characters don't normally have any downsides, but they do have more difficulty performing tricks, besides E10000G and AiAi, and they all lack in the Dashing category. Besides all this, they seem to be the best way to go.
Since I hardly care about any of that except when I am trying to make records, which is usually the only reason why I would go back to play the game, I always like to pair up all of the characters with the following boards instead:
Sonic- Blue Star II Tails- Auto Slider Knuckles- Grinder Amy- Light Board Cream- Beginner Eggman- Super Hang-On Shadow- Accelerator Rouge- Air Broom Jet- Magic Carpet Wave- Faster Storm- Powerful Gear E10000G- None =/ E10000R- None =/ NiGHTS- None =/ Ulala- Advantage-S (or whatever that Grinding Speed type gear is called) AiAi- Hang-On
Most of the boards listed above have a certain personality connection with the characters and seem to "fit" with them just as much as their default gear. I can't find any good ones for E10G, R, or NiGHTS that are any good, though.
As for preferred characters, I guess I always liked using Tails the most with E10000G a close second; although like I said, it is purely cosmetic which character you use, so I don't really have a favorite.

The correct answer is Jet the mother****ing Hawk, no exceptions.
You're all banned now...all of you.
(Also, this topic reminded me to actually buy a copy of ZG...so I did...$8.12 and it's coming in the mail, baby! I shop like I'm Jewish!)

There is something wrong with Zero Gravity. But what bugs me about it is that instead of fixing the flaws that the first one had, SEGA completely changed the gameplay gimmicks. It just looks very lazy to me and boring to play when you take out what the first one had. I liked what was in the first game and felt that if all the problems were fixed, it would turn into a great game. So to me, it wasn't worth it. :<

Your opinion is void...They added a new set simply because the first ones, (Air and turbulance) obviously weren't popular...I tend to find these gimmicks quite fun and wonder if you simply suck at them...like you suck at everything

Your opinion is void...They added a new set simply because the first ones, (Air and turbulance) obviously weren't popular...I tend to find these gimmicks quite fun and wonder if you simply suck at them...like you suck at everything Thanks for making my weak self esteem feel better. =( I'd agree with everything else, though. Riders 1 was trashed because of the high learning curve, jerky controls and no real differences in abilities between characters. Riders 2 gave you the complete opposite of that and yet felt like the game plays itself because nearly everything you do is set on auto-pilot. Eventhough SEGA listened to the complaints, it was turned from a high endurance, adrenaline rush of a game to a slow-paced one. Which I did not like.

No problem!...And also, I thought ZG had it's on learning curve...in fact, I'm almost positive you haven't mastered the physics yet simply because you said the game was slow paced...It feels fast IF you know how to rock the track right.

I only played if for a short while at a cousin's house, so my opinion may not make much of an argument anyway! But my main gripe is that the gameplay of the first one was thrown aside in favor of a completely different one. That much I know is factual and I just didn't like that at all! Like I said, it just looks lazy on the technical point of view and felt that the first game gave you much more room for freedom and could have been even better if it was handled better on the squeal.

Well it took me at least a day of playing to get used to gravity shifts and using them to ride up walls, through pipes, and to all other sorts of crazy crap...which means I was right...>.>...learn to gravity shift moar.

My main is Shadow. That's it. I don't know your fancy gears. I don't have anyone to actually RACE so if I play I just dick around.

I admit, I usually hate tutorials in games because they come with a manual for a reason. But ZG needed a tutorial mode. Without going through that first it was just crashing into everything and watching CPU's perform tricks while the player is fumbling over the buttons.
It's hard to find every single route without watching the CPU's race too. I often found new places by seeing the CPUs use the gravity tricks to rip open part of the track - the Giga Rocks level has lots of different areas to explore depending on the gear you're using, but you need to know where to go off course to find them. So it is a bit of trial and error.
As for the Riders vs ZG argument...I have yet to play the first one ^_^''' Except for about twenty minutes at a Gamestation store. And a video I saw which took the mick out of one of the scenes, replacing the dialogue so Wave was chatting about hwo she might be pregnant and Jet was trying to worm out of it...or something. I can't remember. But anyway!
Yeah XD I need to get the first one.
