I actually have the same problem Weirdo does, to many commands for one button. I could never get him to spindash. The first time I swore in my life was over trying to get him to spindash.

They also controlled all the spindash related moves, which were very annoying to try to do in mid run.
I'm also talking about all the 2-D games in general...
Also, I still can't stand the weighty feeling he had...
And the camera zoom. I think I let loose such fury after (trying to) play Sonic Rush... . . . Oh the nightmares...

Still had a horrible camera zoom, far too close in for a game based on speed...you'd think Sonic's going blind or something.

What version are you playing?
The camera may of had some problems but was no where near as bad as SA2/SH's.

The same one you are...I just can't stand how close the zoom is, you can't see very far ahead of you at all. If you want to avoid getting skewered, you need to either memorize every single stinking detail of the level (not fun) or go really really slow (not fun) or have the reaction time of God (not possible)
I'd take a "shaky" 3-d camera that only gets that way when you're either backtracking (something you're not supposted to do) or simply going somewhere you weren't meant to go (do I even need to say it there?)

Very few stages in the classic Sonic games have that problem.

If you play like you're in New York traffic, then no they don't. But having all that speed and nowhere to let it rip is kind of frustrating to me. And every time I get going, SPIKE WALL! BADNIK! BOTTOMLESS PIT!

They could have had a bonus level after you beat the game. No enemies, no bottomless pits, no bouncy traps, and no spikes. Just platforms and running space. Wishful thinking on my part. xD

BOTTOMLESS PIT! The old games had that kind of concept, Weirdo; whether you like it or not. You just have to get used to it. It doesn't take a lot to figure out whether and enemy or pit is nearby. It's fairly simple, and that's how those games played out. I don't see how you find them difficult.

Yeah, and there's not alot of bottomless pits around, most of the time it's just spikes. Which even then you'll just lose rings.

The problem is that I simply find it frustrating when I take a cheap hit due to the camera not being able to show more then ten feet whenever I decide to actually let loose some speed. Yeah, it's easy to spot a pit or an enemy if you're going slow, but once you hit some actual speed, you have no time to react. This results in throwing a controller, and then slitting my Sonic doll's throat...with a pair of pliers...again...

The recent Sonic games have changed it to have Sonic stop and smell the roses, which is a bad thing.

Knowing the stages helps. You just have to figure out all the traps and avoid them.

And how is that going to be good for a n00b? Anyone who's new to the older Sonic games wouldn't know WHERE the traps were until it's too late due to inexperience.
