Ok, well for those whom not know of Sonic's craptasic games ever sense the Dreamcast went down, Sega has been sucking all it can out of their mascot. All games Sonic i have played from the new school generation (except Rush) has been total crap. But pretty much in reason and what I'm really tying to say here is that Sega is juicing Sonic for all it's money. They don't care about games anymore, they only care about money, and you can tell that by their recent work. Only one thing can bring Sega back though, and that is NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. This will make them or break them. Thanks for reading!

The new NiGHTS game looks kick ass, but I have to disagree with them only wanting money. Sonic just isn't as popular as he used to be. And, the thing that made the games and characters go downhill was the Shadow the Hedgehog game, as each game before that (Sonic Adventure era) did remarkably well.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about anymore

Bah, they just need to spend more time perfecting their games. Sonic 06 was awesome, it just was released way to early. Get some of those glitches out, and the game would have been awesome, and do away with the thousands of loading screens.

Recently, the only games that were any good were Sonic Advance series and Rush. The console games have been nothing but disappointments with horrible glitches, camera angles, too many characters, cliche storyline, the third-rate 4kids actors... this list goes on and on. SEGA did everything wrong with these games. Adventure 1 and 2 were great as well, but weren't as well as expected. Sonic has been gradually dieing over the past few years. Heroes, Shadow, and '06 were all dreadful and steamed far from the Sonic formula. After all these years, how is it that it's taken 5 years for them to get a console game right with Secret Rings? We're not sure. But this has been going on for a long while. Remember the Saturn back in '96? It started Sonic out with an isometric Sonic game that wasn't all that great either. Then they started work on X-treme, which was later canceled. It was supposed to save Sonic on the Saturn era from the 'not so great' Sonic R and then the 'okay, but unexpected' Sonic Jam. Looking back into this, Sonic's peak perfection was all the way back in '94 with Sonic 3 & Knuckles; a game that hasn't been anywhere nearly as perfected ever since.
Instead of going on with this (you all get my point, and are probably tired of hearing this anyway XD). In Sonic games, there really hasn't been anything great lately in console gaming. There is--- ah, forget it. I'm getting tired of this too. *storms off all pouty*

My take on the whole thing is that they're simply having problems making games for a system they didn't design and know inside and out, yet they're still trying to churn out games at the same rapid pace. Though to tell you the truth, I didn't really notice that many glitches in Heroes and Shadow and Riders, (Though 2006 is a different story) they may not have been as good as the Adventure series, but they're still quite fun to me.
Either way, I think it's just a matter of time before the quality begins to crawl back up, I've heard many interviews with reps that say they're going to focus a lot more on quality after 2006.

I agree Sega is milking Sonic but trust me when I say its not because they NEED money. They have plenty of money. Last time I checked, with themselves included, the net worth of Sega Sammy company was in the 20 billions in profit each year. Sega, with enough gimme gimme could probably get whatever money they really needed by asking for it.
And as Weirdo94 stated, Sega IS making a huge effort to change the quality of their games. Look at the Advance series and how well it sold, and the reviews they got. Look at Rush, which was a huge success for SEGA. They realized that by handing Sonic over to new blood (Dimps, or Bioware for example) they have significantly increased the amount of fans to the series. Not to mention the sales aspect.
One of the next Sonic games coming out will be Sonic Rush 2 for the DS along with the Sonic the Hedgehog RPG I have been dying to learn more about. I think this might be a good move on Sega's part... make everyone else do the work and reap the benefits. Hey, its not the only time this has happened in the entertainment industry.
Look what Disney did with Pixar. Made them work on all their films, while they only supplied the storylines (if anything). Yet they made at least half either way because they OWNED that story (or in Sega's case, the character). Then once Disney got enough money, they bought out Pixar. Sega might be planning the same strategy!

Sonic is just better side scrolling 2-D not 3-D. Sega needs to pull their act together. Also, fakersink i agree with the Disney Pixar deal. And also thats what happened to RARE. Sega today is bull nuts, to my anyway that is. the only thing that will change my mind Is the new NiGHTS. And i didn't even like Secret Rings. The controls were just too blah. So SEGA needs to get it together, or buy out every company to make their games, and sit on their fat asses and roll in their money like pigs.

I can also see why Sonic CD did so well.
