Has anyone here ever had to talk someone out of killing themselves over MSN?
I have. Twice.
God damn is it frustrating. They're obviously not going to really hurt themselves because if they were seriously depressed they wouldn't be delaying it by using MSN, but trying to cheer them up to make sure they don't do anything stupid or rash is tough. Not to mention the wear on your nerves as they jump everywhere with this persons emotions.
I was lucky first time because my mum taught me that suicidal people don't spend their time chatting about their feelings online and just saying I had brought the person a gift was enough to lift their spirits, but this second time was really hard. Especially since they have continual bouts of PMS/depression and actually sees a professional (although the uplift they get from seeing them only lasts a day).
*sigh*
Anyone else had to deal with very emotional people online? Or am I the only one who has friends with emo tendacies?

I feel the same way, Dusk. A boy my age on smackjeeves, he thinks hes emo and he ALWAYS says hes going to commit suicide, and i have to talk him out of it.
1) hes 11
2) He probally just does it for attention
3) its very frustrating though D<

The problem is you can't just say "sod it" and go offline because then you're torturing yourself mentally with what the person is thinking and might end up doing. Plus they clearly can't talk to someone in person otherwise it wouldn't have reached that stage.

i had a friend try to kill himself. It was before I met him though. He has scars all up and down his arms his parents don't know about. His girlfriend left him. They got back together now and he's good.
There's another person I know who SAYS they're suicidal but they aren't. They just do it to fit in. He was Gangsta like 4 years ago. Now he's emo.

I thought of it once myself, just convinced myself that i'ld have to clean up the mess I made by stabbing myself, that and theres way to much to live for, so many games to play, so many people to meet and stuff like that ^.^

I was once a peer councilor in High School, so I've spoken with some suicidal folks before. It's a tough thing to have to do, but it's tougher on the people contemplating it.
The thing is, Suicide does "seem" like a good choice at the work of times, but I'm a firm believer there is always a rainbow (God, that sounds lame). Things always get better, and quitters never get to see that. Things get tough for everybody, but you just have to power through and try to look on the bright side of things.

I had the same thing happen in another forum of mine except the person supposedly ran away from home. Rumor spread that this person killed themself but this person actually ended up popping back onto the forums in a matter of days, explaining themself to us.
I tell ya, I was too worried about that person through this and I haven't even met them face to face.

Actually, I read somewhere on the internet (Geekology, I think) that someone DID kill themselves on a forum. tragic, really. The Overdosed on Sleeping pills on a webcam while people watched, calling him a faker.
*Sigh*

I heard before that there were forums that support and encourage suicide...they found a boy hanging with his will typed up on the screen x.x'' Checked his browser history and found the site...was really sad.
