the game looks great so far still hope its realeased for the wii too I have no other next gen systems. and if knux could deafeat sonic why dont eggman just tell knuckles to give him the emeralds for SAFEkeeping really the villans always go overboard just pull out a semi-automatic and shoot the guy for cryin out loud.

Tails and Knuckles for starring roles
The new May 2008 issue 18 of Playstation Official Magazine UK has been released today and contained within it is a new 4 page article on Sonic Unleashed. The article has been made No.1 in their 'Top 10 Stories everyone's talking about'. All of the screenshots are cutscene and in-game screens we've already seen. I've compared the screens that match with the Official Nintendo Magazine ones and the ones in Playstation Official Magazine UK do look like their in higher def than the ONM ones. Might just be me though. :P
Anyway, the only interesting bit of info in the article is this -

So, Tails and Knuckles just might be playable characters. Well, at least they will be in the game. I could only hope that if they are playable, they'll be kept like their Genesis and Advance counterparts.

Bah, I've heard the "rebooting" brand deal far to many times to care. Anyways, I like some of the new ones.
I'll be frank, though. I'm not sure Knuckles needs to be there. I love the guy, but saying that "Pure Sonic" is him running around with Tails and Knuckles is absurd. Knuckles only role in the 16 bit series was as the guardian of Angel Island. Since then, they have come up with increasingly cockamamie reasons for him to get involved, further watering down in character into "Tails Two." Unless he has a master emerald -related reason to show up, I'm not sold.

True. Knuckles has just "been there" as of late, with no real good reason to have him. As I could seriously agree that he shouldn't be used as consecutively as he has. But it could be annoying that every time you want to add Knuckles, there just has to be something wrong with the Master Emerald. =/ Serious Deja vu, there. But for this game, I could seriously let is slide. ;D He's going to appear anyway, and maybe if they are to be playable, maybe Tails or Knuckles can have little sections of stages of their own thats separated from Sonic's area or something like that. But if they aren't playable, I'll be okay with it. As long as the Sonic gameplay actually works, let alone how the Werehog one will be, i'll be okay with that. EDIT: Annnd here they are. -At least once, we saw the character crash through a rooftop and free fall (in a controllable sequence) down a long corridor. -If you'd rather just zip through traditional levels, you can ignore the overworld altogether, but it'll be there for those who want it. -And you will on occasion be able to play as a character other than Sonic, although the focus of the game will definitely be on the Hedgehog. (did I call it, or did I call it)-The forced split-screen face-offs in the Sonic Adventure games are out. Unleashed is a single-player only experience. There will not be a multiplayer mode of any kind, according to SEGA. -Sonic Team is also enabling full use of the GameCube controller and is currently looking into adding support for the classic controller, too. -Having watched SEGA reps zip through two beautiful looking stages filled with classic 2D-esque loops and corkscrews in addition to fully 3D cities, we can optimistically state that Sonic is finally back. -Sonic Unleashed has a few hurdles left, mostly related to framerate fluidity, but there's no doubt about it: Sonic Team has finally taken the franchise forward again. I might as well post the screens.

Well Hell, that does look pretty impressive. I wonder what other characters you can play as? I am totally about this optional over-world concept. I appreciate when the game companies put these things in for the hardcore fans, do don't force it down the casual players throats.
Is it me, or does the last pic look like Soliana done right?

Man, oh, man.
Well, at the very least, the speed sections of the game apparently rock.
I'm willing to give the alternative gameplay a chance. It sounds interesting. You see, I've learned that Balls to the Walls speed is awesome, but makes for a short game. A very short game. The extra gameplay is necessary to creat a modern experience. And frankly, I've palyed through crappy fishing games, go-karting and pinbally -- a brawler sounds like a welcome addition. It'll make the running feel more fresh.
Also, at least Were-Sonic IS Sonic. It's not like we're meating another plot-sensitive hedgehog.
*Sigh*
The shoes are pretty ridiculous, though. Why do they change again?

Probably to look badass? It's kinda like Link's shackle still stuck to him in Twilight Princess. It does nothing, it's only there for looks.
On a related note, I wish that I could see Were-Sonic rip Amy's head off.

Looks a bit like the old animals that you freed from robots in the old classic Genesis games. :3 Said character will appear in the game and in a Magna comic tie-in. Someone already scanned them and you can see them here. scroll down a bit. - Gamespy Hands-on from Games Convention: Graphics are good, controls are perfect, but the framerate needs some more adjustment. During the daytime levels we played in Leipzig it sometimes fell. Still, we're pretty sure that Sega will finally give us a good Sonic game again, and we'll know for sure when Unleashed hits the shelves this fall.
