About the recent Spamfagging

As you may know we've been getting a noticeable amount of gibberish ads in random topics recently (All the better to you if you don't know, though...It means I'm doing my job.) I found out recently that the spambot's on the other end of the world. Some research shows that all the recent garble fagoting we've been getting was from a "CNCGROUP Beijing Province Network" as well as CHINAGROUP Beijing Province Network"...And they've been hitting quite a few places, even going so far to disguise themselves as a branch of Microsoft, or so I'm told.

I guess now would be a good time to ask how IPs work...<.<...Could I ban every possible IP this particular provider can push out, or would the only way to stop him wind up being stoping the entire internet save only our most trusted members?

I'm finding it rather odd, though, that they manage to guest post when it's disabled...anyone got an idea on how to fix that, as well? Sounds like the best option here is "Write an angry letter to Proboards"

Either way, I'd like to see these types wiped clean from our board. I'm even beginning to consider if we can tell M$ themselves about it and see if they'd be able to pursue legal action for the mimic act they've been putting on.

Thank you so much for keeping track of this, man. Especially since I have been unfortunately absent of late, it's good to know a quality Mod like you is keeping the spambot riff-raff in line.

Well, like I mentioned on AIM. It seems that guest posting is still allowed for all the spam boards. If you could turn that off we'd likely have no more problems with it.

From what I've seen, spam was the only one. I'll keep an eye open, though.
